Kent's leading law firm website gets a design overhaul with mobile use in focus

Girlings has been successfully operating as one of Kent’s leading law firms working with commercial, family and individual clients since 1881. Customers benefit from the firm's legal expertise across the UK, yet the business remains proud of its roots in Kent with offices in Ashford, Canterbury and Herne Bay.

THE BRIEF:

Having supported Girlings with hosting services for the last few years, we were asked to pitch for the opportunity to build its new customer website.

The brief centred around three key areas:

  • Creating a clean, modern design that made Girlings stand out from the competition
  • Revised site navigation to improve user journeys and overall digital experience
  • Perhaps most importantly, a much-improved experience on mobile devices which was given equal billing throughout the process

The mobile version has a user-friendly interface that was different from the desktop, which was always a major factor in the satisfaction with the finished article.

THE PROJECT:

Following our presentation to the relevant stakeholders we were successfully awarded the contract to build the new site.

We scoped and specified the new site for Girlings while running a number of internal and external workshops, before moving onto the design and finally build and testing phases of the project.

The site was built with a new Content Management System (CMS) - Craft 3, which is a flexible and easy to use CMS, but still powerful enough to handle all of the requirements of the site both now and as it grows in the future, futureproofing the solution.

The project required our design team to develop a strong new visual language around the brand and Girlings’ design team have now developed this further to create a matching suite of printed collateral. We also worked alongside its SEO agency to ensure the new site was well-engineered for SEO from the very beginning.

THE RESULT:

The website was ultimately designed to increase traffic and more importantly customer enquiries

Girlings is satisfied it meets those objectives and is pleased to have received positive feedback from external sources including new clients.

The mobile and desktop view of the site exceeded Girlings expectations. The mobile version has a user-friendly interface that was different from the desktop, which was always a major factor in the satisfaction with the finished article.

Using AGile project management methodology aided our ability to react quickly to any changes during the project resulting in minimal impact on the project timeline.
