Pump Court Chambers, formed over 70 years ago, are a top ranked barristers’ set. They are also one of the very first legal chambers to have gained the Legal Service Commission’s ‘Quality Mark’. Pump Court Chambers chose Moore-Wilson to update their branding and build their new website. It was important to the client that users of the new website could quickly find barristers with the relevant skills and experience for their case.

In terms of branding, we looked carefully at which elements of their brand identity should be kept and, apart from the name, dark red was retained as their main corporate colour. We introduced a clean new logo symbol to replace an old pen-and-ink drawing of the door to their London chambers. We were all keen to avoid cliché photography of barristers and courts, instead we adopted a fresh illustrative style.

We built the new website using an open-source CMS platform to save the client annual licence fees and provide maximum future flexibility. One of the key areas of the new website is the barrister search tool which allows users to find a barrister by name, year-of-call or by practice area. Barristers with multiple areas of expertise have separate pages detailing their experience in each area, this means that if a user searches by a specific practice area the search tool will bring up the relevant information for each barrister rather than general information about the barrister.
