The Hotel Booking Agents Association (HBAA) is the trade association for hotel and venue booking agencies. The HBAA works with booking agents to help them achieve high professional standards and follow best practice. HBAA wanted a complete overhaul and redesign of their existing website and they selected Moore-Wilson, with strong experience in designing and building membership websites, as the best fit for this project. As well as a completely new design, a key theme of the project was to make the HBAA’s membership administration quicker and easier to deal with to keep HBAA staff overheads to a minimum.
We created a fresh new design for the website, incorporating a series of cartoon style illustrations as a new theme, to reflect the organisation’s highly-valued friendly and welcoming feel. To make the site more intuitive we completely updated the site’s architecture. We also provided lots of new functionality including a new resource centre and improved training and events booking. In order to address HBAA’s concerns about simplifying membership administration, we built a new multi-stage sign-up process with auto alerts and clearer reporting for the administrators.
Members of HBAA can now sign in with their LinkedIn accounts so that they do not need to remember their membership details. When members log in they see specific content that is pertinent to them such as messages, event bookings and attendance history. We also included other features such as a job section, a resource centre and member directory. To encourage user engagement we added social media sharing buttons and live Twitter feeds. We also added a poll system that lets members vote on topic issues in the sector.
