Founded by Royal Charter in 1518, the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) is England’s oldest and most prestigious medical foundation. RCP began marketing their headquarters as a conference venue in the 1990s, initially as a way to sell spare capacity to help fund the college.
The RCP headquarters has now established itself as one of the United Kingdom’s most highly regarded venues, on both national and international levels. In July 2012, it won the coveted title of ‘World’s Best Convention Centre’ – an unprecedented achievement for an academic venue – at the annual conference of the AIPC (the International Association of Congress Centres). Building on the success of the design and build of the main RCP website, Moore-Wilson was commissioned to work on the new Meetings & Events website.
It was important that visitors to the RCP Events website could find the information they needed quickly, so we carefully considered the user journeys for both professional event organisers and for attendees. It was also crucial that the new site should prominently display the architecture of the venue and the variety of facilities and services on offer. We utilised specially commissioned large format photographs that would not only show off the best features of the venue but would also add a brighter look to the website. We also made it much easier to compare the different room options.
The result is a modern website that promotes the premium positioning of the College’s facilities and highlights the venue’s historic rooms and unique architecture:
